This is always a fun topic to toss around! Whether you like to follow all the latest trends or be the trendsetter, it’s always fun to see what direction design and fashion are going in. We are big on research here at Elle. We spend countless hours all year long making sure we are in the know. Let’s talk shop and make a few predictions for this year’s event season. Who doesn’t love a good prediction anyway?
It goes without saying that upping the wow factor will forever be the latest trend. Every year trends get a level up and can we just say, HELLO Prince of Dubai wedding…we are not worthy of that show! (Just google it, you’ll see.) Okay, but be for real Elle, most of us don’t have a supernova budget, so what’s a small-town girl or guy to do? Lean on in y’all: We don’t need an astronomical budget to create a jaw-dropping event. With our connections and resources, we can wow even your most critical guests. It’s all about creativity and personality. Let’s get into it, yah.
Greenery Gets a Front Row Seat
Don’t sleep on the greenery, friends. Greenery is one of those design elements that can make a big difference with minimal effort. It’s screams savvy, versatile and impactful. Lime can be chic or playful, forest greens are gentle yet regal, whereas the burgundy and burnt purples add depth and drama. If you are wincing at the idea of looking back at your photo’s years from now hoping and praying that you didn’t end up with the tacky trend, go with greenery. Greenery never misses.

Follow the Call of the Disco Ball
I think it’s safe to say we can thank the Millennials for this one. (Where my 80’s + 90’s kids at?) Disco balls, balloons, and flowers hanging from the ceiling? Yes, please! Throw it all in there. Boho and disco balls? Yep, that’s a thing now, too. As the 90’s country bombshell Bonnie Raitt would say: “Let’s give ‘em somethin’ to talk about”, and we completely agree. With the light reflection that disco
The Best Kind of Blues
Blue: The hue that keeps on giving.
Ultra-romantic. Soft. Tranquil. Extravagant. Vibrant. Bold. Blue has you covered in every way imaginable. Hydrangeas are on point for this year’s spring weddings, baby showers and more. Blue Anemone is a favorite among the bold seekers. Cornflower is great for those looking for a more country-esque vibe. Blue Delphinium can give you a coastal vibe with their elongated periwinkle clusters. No flowers, you say? No problem. Lighting, linen, balloons, and textured surfaces in shades of blue can give you some seriously awesome and modern designs.
Neutral + Modern
Neutrals are a group favorite for a lot of reasons, but there are a few details about neutrals that stand out from the rest. Neutral palettes are often easier to work with. They also have the fluidity to allow the textures and shapes in décor to become the focal point. Lastly, neutrals really do work for all skin tones, shapes and sizes. They will forever be a timeless choice on trend.
Go Big or Go Home
Large arches, balloon ceilings, and entire accent walls showing off drinks, flowers, artwork; or anything that can be turned into a larger-than-life work of art is definitely fuego this year.
It’s all about working from top to bottom, quite literally. Use the ceiling as the first place to start brainstorming for your Pinterest board. From billowy linens to cascading florals, to over-the-top arches and arbors-the world (and your event venue) is your oyster. A word of caution for ceiling suspensions: Some venues will not allow anything suspended from the ceilings due to fire safety regulations. When interviewing venues, be sure to ask them about their ceiling suspension protocols.
Sober + Healthy Lifestyle: Mocktails
The craft brew lovers might hate me for this, but I’m going to say it anyway: No amount of alcohol is good for us, and Gen Z is on point with being even more health conscious than the generations before them. Mixologist curated mocktails are all the buzz. Serving your guests amazing refreshments with health benefits instead of a health deficit is a subtle way to show them your commitment to inclusivity. Cheers to good health!
Fringe Binge
The 60’s are also having a moment and we are loving the all the fringe and bubbly notes of yellows and oranges! The color combinations are endless. Peace, love and happiness all around!
Fall 2023: Moody Maximalism
This look is all over TikTok for home design and we can’t help but predict that it’s going to be a huge trend for fall and winter 2023/2024 events. Pay attention friends, because ornate framing, antiques adorned with black and deep jewel tones accents are coming our way. Cue Wednesday Addams as your wedding planner.
